How do you measure Majorana bound states?
Can you name what ingredients are required in order to have Majorana zero modes?
We have seen at the beginning of the video that a possible set up includes an InSb nanowire with a superconductor on top. These are two important ingredients: a semiconducting nanowire and a superconductor. Besides this, it is important that the semiconductor material has strong spin-orbit coupling and that we can tune the chemical potential in the system.
Finally, to have Majoranas we need a magnetic field parallel to the nanowire. This is what we see at the end of the video: only by increasing the magnetic field we will see the Majorana zero-bias conductance peak.
