Applications of a Quantum Computer

As we’ve seen, quantum computers do not try to replace classical computers, but to enlarge the variety of algorithms one could use. Can you think of any classical algorithms that could have a quantum counterpart?

We’ll see in the following lectures that there’s quantum algorithms for searching in a database, factoring large numbers, optimizing, solving linear algebra equations, etc.
